About John Leigh

john leigh smallJohn Leigh is the Managing Director and chief executive officer of the DLM Forum and works directly to the Executive Committee.

John took up office on 1st July 2012 and is the first Managing Director to be appointed by the DLM Forum, marking the beginning of a new and exciting period of organisational development, growth and influence.

Primary Goals

As Managing Director, John provides the leadership and empowerment necessary for the DLM Forum to achieve its primary goals which include:

  • Promoting Information Governance as an holistic concept
  • Establishing the DLM Forum as an organisation that bridges across the different sub-disciplines of Information Governance
  • Providing a European forum and a membership organisation for the wider Information Governance community
  • Running Information Governance Events in Europe
  • Participating in European projects related to Information Governance
  • Establishing an authoritative body of Information Governance standards and guidelines
  • Actively promoting the MoReq2010 specification and building on its legacy

Principal Duties

Under the direction of the Executive Commitee, John has full operational control of the DLM Forum, and his principal duties include:

  • Representing the DLM Forum and its interests and acting as its public face
  • Preparing the annual business plan and annual budget
  • Overseeing the execution of the business plan
  • Arranging DLM Forum events, including commercial events
  • Attracting sponsorship and funding for new and existing programmes
  • Initiating, coordinating and delivering research projects
  • Working with partners and affiliated organisations across and beyond Europe
  • Providing sales and marketing to improve awareness of the DLM Forum and its activities
  • Growing the membership with the aim of increasing both the diversity of the DLM Forum across different industry sectors and the number of members from each sector and country

DLM Forum Secretariat

John also runs the Managing Director's office, which is traditionally referred to as the DLM Forum Secretariat.

The Secretariat represents the central point of contact and the administrative hub of the DLM Forum and provides the following services to members:

  • Responding to general enquiries and correspondence from DLM Forum members and the general public
  • Providing membership and subscription services
  • Distributing information to members including news and events
  • Maintaining and updating the DLM Forum website
  • Arranging meetings and teleconferences, and liaising with host countries
  • Conference administration and event management
  • Administratively supporting the Executive Committee, the MoReq Governance Board and other DLM Forum sub-committees
  • Producing and publishing the DLM Forum’s Annual Report
  • Managing all financial, accounting and legal matters
  • Other administrative duties as required
